Into The Shadows — Game Session — 003

Game summary for October 1, 2019, Into The Shadows campaign, Shadowrun 5th Edition, for Phoenix Gaming Club. Session included: Ballyhoo (Human Augmenter played by Andrew Renfrow), Chase (Troll Tank played by Kaliegh Averdick), Clutch (Human Transport Rigger played by Peyton Harmon), Hollywood (Human Combat Medic played by Chris Harmon), Octane (Elf Razor played by Casey Scruggs), and Thay (Elf Street Shaman played by Taylor Averdick). Game Master for this session was Charles Plemons.

The team piled into Clutch’s van and sped off.  Hollywood, Thay, and Ballyhoo used a number of Heal spells to mend the various injuries suffered inside the Speakeasy bar.  They then parked down the street from the Novelty Hills Sleep and Eat and sent Thay and Chase into the establishment to rent a room.  Thay flirted with the manager on duty, a wiry dwarf named Lucas Kash.  She talked him down to a lower rate and giving them room 311.  Once in the room, Thay came out and tried her keycard in door 312 and knocked.  Lucas yelled up that she was at the wrong door, so she went back to 311.  Chase used his combat axe and tremendous strength and weight to crash through the wall into 312 wherein they found Oxycode already dead.  On the floor were two commlinks which they snatched up.  Searching the room, they discovered lots of drugs, and they took those too.  Thay then used a power outlet to start a fire in the room, and the group went downstairs and told Lucas they smelled smoke.

The pair returned to the van, and the group drove off and contacted their Mr. Johnson.  Since they had a gunfight in the Speakeasy, they decided to meet at a Stuffer Shack several blocks away.  He paid them for the commlink and handed the other one back to them.  He suggested it might be valuable, but not to him.

The group then decided to make some money on the stolen drugs, so they called Hollywood’s fixer, Fast Freddy.  He agreed to meet in a J-Mart parking lot.  They worked out a deal to give him 20% if he would move the product, and he accepted.  He said he would meet them back there the following night.

We pile into the van and Clutch drives us away from the club.

Clutch, Chase, and Ballyhoo are all bleeding profusely. Thay casts heal on Chase; Dell casts on Clutch; and Ballyhoo casts on himself.
Dell, Thay, and Ballyhoo also have stun damage that they address as best as they can.

While healing up, Chase checks the scanner for police reports. Though they have been called to the scene, nothing has been reported regarding our party… yet.

As we near the pimp’s neighborhood, we stop and develop a plan: Chase and Thay will try to get a room near Oxycode’s room.

Chase and Thay approach the clerk, Lucas. He tells them that rooms are $75/night for orcs (Chase). Thay flirts with him and brings the cost down to $40. She uses a credstick and pays. (Unsure who’s name is associated with the credstick; might be Thay’s, might be stolen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .) He gives them a key for room 311, right beside Oxycode’s room (312).

Chase enters the room. Thay, pretending to mistake the room she needs to enter, tries the key on Oxycode’s door. When it fails, she knocks and says “Quit playing. Let me in.” Lucas sees her from the office and yells that she is at the wrong room. Realizing her plan won’t work now, she enters the room with Chase.

Chase begins using his combat axe to break through the paper-thin wall into Oxycode’s room. Within seconds he crashes through. He immediately realizes that Oxycode is dead and notices that there are 2 commlinks on the floor. He takes both. Thay takes Oxycode’s certified credstick.
Scanning the room, they see quite a few drugs and pick them up.

Realizing that their fingerprints are everywhere, Dell recommends burning down the room, which they do. They return to their room and exit through their door. Thay tells Chase that they think there is a fire. As he looks toward the room, they bolt out the door.

Still listening to the scanner, Clutch picks up that a fire has been reported. Once Thay and Chase hop in the van, we speed off. Chase calls Mr. Johnson and arranges to meet at a nearby Stuffer Shack to hand off the commlinks.

Mr. Johnson was surprised that there were 2. He skims through the contacts lists and figures out which one he needs. He transfers the money agreed upon to each of us and gives back the other commlink, telling us to hold onto it, as someone else might be interested in it.

Without much knowledge of the drugs Chase and Thay picked up, Dell reaches out to a contact, Fast Freddy, to arrange an exchange. Clutch signals a backup van to come to us, so his main van can lie low.

We meet Fast Freddy, who easily identifies all of the drugs. He agrees to sell them for us and will split the income (80% us, 20% him). He’ll meet up with us tomorrow night to pay us.

We head back to Clutch’s place to lie low for a bit.
