Into The Shadows — Game Session — 018

Game summary for February 25, 2020, Into The Shadows campaign, Shadowrun 5th Edition, for Phoenix Gaming Club. Session included: Ballyhoo (Human Augmenter played by Andrew Renfrow), Clutch (Human Transport Rigger played by Peyton Harmon), Hollywood (Human Combat Medic played by Chris Harmon), and Octane (Elf Razor played by Casey Scruggs). Game Master for this session was Charles Plemons.

The team moved further into the greenhouse and were attacked by a ravenous wendigo and two more neo-tribals!  The scout hit Octane with an incredibly accurate shot and hurt him pretty badly.  The warrior blasted away with his AK-97 to little effect while the wendigo hurled a stunball amongst the team, nearly knocking Hollywood unconscious!  Clutch put his drone to good use spraying hails of bullets into the fray.  Ballyhoo hurled acid spells with good effect while Octane fell back and drew his machine pistol.

The team gunned down the neo-tribals, and Hollywood ran up to one of the bushes closer to the frontlines.  With a target in range, the wendigo charged!  It tried to bite him and rendered him unconscious in its arms.  The group began focuses fire upon it, and the lead rounds began reacting with its natural allergy to ferrous metals.  It screamed and struggled and was unable to escape before the group was able to slay it.

The party explored the greenhouse and found the survivors of the squatter camp caged in pens.  Much to their horror, they realized the survivors were being used as a food source for the wendigo and perhaps the neo-tribals as well!  They quickly released the prisoners and escorted them back Kaur’s Farm.

Returned to the farm, the group revealed what they found and hung out for a few days to make sure they had solved the mystery of the attacking animals.  Once certain things were back to normal, they collected their payment and headed back into the city.

  1. Octane says:

We search the corpses and take note of things we should haul back to the farm once we‘re done. Soon after, though, reinforcements show up, including a “sand yeti”.
Immediately one of the neotribals opens fire on me and rings my bell. It stuns me some, but I’m still standing.
Hollywood then shoots a different neotribal. While Clutch’s drone finishes him off, Ballyhoo casts an acid spell at the one that shot me.
The “sand yeti” casts a stun ball at Ballyhoo and Hollywood. Ballyhoo dodges, but Hollywood leans into it and nearly falls over, but manages to keep standing.
I slide behind some foliage for cover and pull out my machine pistol. The neotribal that shot me tries to draw a bead on me again but misses.
I return fire and take him out.
The drone lights up the magic monkey. Screaming in pain while the holes in her emit smoke, she charges Hollywood, as he switches clips.
She bites him, rendering him unconscious. She grabs him and shows her fangs, ready to suck the rest of the life out of him.
However, I burst fire on her and kill her.
Ballyhoo slaps a stimpatch on Hollywood, then begins studying the paracritter and identifies her as a Wendigo. He informs us that a Wendigo is an orc that has been infected.
As Hollywood heals himself, he notices some crying from somewhere within the greenhouse.
We locate a bunch of women and children imprisoned in cages. We let them out, as they tell us that the Wendigo was worshipped by the neotribals and referred to as the “Most Holy Daughter” and that she would periodically take one of the prisoners to her room, never to return. We locate her room and find stacks of bones, confirming suspicions that she fed on the prisoners to stay alive.
We load up the weapons and gear and haul it back to the farm.
We hang around a few more days. As no more attacks occur, we feel confident that we have eliminated the threat. Donnie, after coming out of his coma, pays us, satisfied with the outcome.
