Chronoshift: Spelljammer — Game Session — 114

Game summary for January 7, 2025, Chronoshift: Spelljammer campaign, Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, for Phoenix Gaming Club. Session included: Callum Spellhardt (Human Sorcerer played by Parker Harmon), Finch Bloodrain (Half-Hobgoblin Slayer played by Peyton Harmon), Hekera Nephera Mawhesk Vyk’sebekenka (Sebek-ka Fighter played by Preston Harmon), Hwrulf (Human Unchained Barbarian played by Paul Potter), and Snagyndar Blackthorn (Huldran War Master played by Casey Scruggs). Game Master for this session was Charles Plemons.

Encouraged by their success against Sylvar and his loyalists, several of the team relaxed and had a carousing night on the town.  Some lost small fortunes.  Most broke even.  Finch met a treasure hunter named Kael Fenstrom and shared drinks and “shop talk” at a bar.  Over the course of the night, Finch picked up a few tricks and increased his knowledge and understanding of dungeoneering.  Meanwhile, Hwrulf woke up in a rough tavern after a night of drinking and revelry… in the arms of Sigrid Volund, a high priestess of the local pantheon temple!  There could be some scandal if everything that happened through the night got out (some of which Hwrulf does not remember).

The next day the group gathered back at The Crescent’s Whisper tavern.  Snagyndar went out to see if he could find where prison guard uniforms are made or if he could get one.  He happened upon an establishment that takes the fine armor produced by the weapon guilds and paints it, attaches the appropriate markings, and so forth and ships it to Granite Mountain Prison.  He negotiated a while and convinced the working clerk to “misplace” one of the suits of armor and instead ship it c/o Ygans at The Crescent’s Whisper, but Snagy has to return within the next day or so with 2,500 gp for this to happen.

Hwrulf decided to visit the Valhallan temple, and Sigrid in particular.  He made a 1,200 gp offering at the temple and learned some former prison guards attend services there.  He arranged for a discrete one to meet him in a few hours at The Crescent’s Whisper.

Meanwhile, Finch sought out Kael, bought him some more drinks and asked him what he knew about the prison.  He was able to give some information about the open lands between Tarvin and the prison, specifically that they are infested with bulettes… land sharks!  However, he noted how people often remark how interesting it is that none of the former guards ever discuss bulettes tunneling into the prison.

Hwrulf met with Orin Vance, a retired former prison guard.  Hwrulf noted the man was very alert and took note of everything going on around him.  Orin was able to tell them a bit about the operation of the prison such as how the prisoners are fed.  He also told them about the number of guards garrisoned there, and that there is a spellcasting officer called a Spellward Marshal.  He confirmed the guards really don’t face troubles within the prison (the prisoners are very well contained).  Mostly, they fight bulettes when on patrol, which made the team realize these guards are serious warriors.

The group came together to compare notes and realized they have lots of questions.  Perhaps they could use some divination magic to put some more pieces of the puzzle together.
